College Education: Is It Necessary?

If you had asked me a year ago about my thoughts about college education I would have said something like, "I have a great job that I am gaining experience from, why would I need a higher education?". About six months ago, my thoughts changed. I had a great job in Salt Lake a year ago. I had opportunities to travel the world and gain experience in marketing and managing a business. However, in the spring of 2023, I realized that I could only grow so much at this place. I had begun plateauing at work and did not know how to move forward. After much self-reflection, I realized I loved marketing and wanted to learn from experts in that field. What was the best for me to do that? Get a higher education.

Although I do believe you do not need a higher education get have a successful career, I do think that having a college education provides more freedom when it comes to choosing what you want to do. Much like how Heavenly Father works. He has set commandments up for our benefit. Many people see these commandments as rules that hold you back and do not allow you to choose. To them, I say they are wrong. Because of the commandments, we have a higher capacity to choose good and choose with a clear mind. Rules are meant to protect us and expand our freedom. College education is there to expand our freedom of choice when it comes to careers. It enhances our abilities.
