Understanding your audience is key to writing, selling, and overall interaction. When it comes to the field of sales, it is vital to your overall effectiveness to adapt to your customers. If you do not connect with your customer on an individual level and cater to their needs, you will not see much success. Because people connect differently, if you use the same lines for 100 people, you may only get 3 people who purchase your product because of a lack of adaptability.
The same goes for writing. You speak differently to a young child than you would a 45-year-old adult. You do this because the vocabulary of the child is not as mature as the adults. In writing, you have to cater to your audience for your point to come across the way you intend.
Here are some tips for crafting a connection with your audience:
First, ask yourself who your audience is. What do they do for a living? What age range are they in?
Second, determine how your audience speaks. Is this going to be a casual paper they read or one that is informative?
Third, what type of scene are you trying to set? Understanding what you are trying to convey is important to help you understand how to cater to your audience.
As you keep your audience in mind, you will be sure to write to their needs and ensure they feel that connection between you and them.
