Gordon B. Hinckley: “Each of us can do a little better than we have been doing. We can be a little more kind. We can be a little more merciful. We can be a little more forgiving. We can put behind us our weaknesses of the past, and go forth with new energy and increased resolution to improve the world about us, in our homes, in our places of employment, in our social activities.”

How can we apply editing principles to living the gospel? This can be answered with a few simple steps.

  1. Reflection: In editing, you must reflect and review your work. Sometimes, your work may even be reviewed by a colleague. This is done because of the importance of getting it right. We must reflect on our daily lives in order to understand what we can fix and change.

  2. Correction: When we find errors in our work, we quickly fix them. The Savior has given us the ultimate gift of His atonement. Elder Uchtdorf said, "The longer we delay corrective action, the larger the needed changes become, and the longer it takes to get back on the correct course—even to the point where a disaster might be looming." We must quickly utilize His atonement and make corrections quickly.

  3. Consistency: Maintaining consistency throughout your editing process can speed up the time and reduce errors. We can maintain that consistency throughout our lives by reflecting, correcting, and repenting.
