Posting on social media is something I have been trying to learn more about over the last year since starting my food truck. And let me tell you, it is very difficult. With the recent video I created, I posted it on both Facebook and Instagram, the two platforms I use for my business. With this experience, I've learned things I did well and things that could be improved for next time. Both platforms had different outcomes.
For Instagram, I had a lot of success. I was able to interact with people on the comment section and maintain that presence. I received new followers and the video reached a large portion of non-followers, to my surprise. Using Instagram is very easy for me because I use it in my spare time, not just for marketing. I understand why I need to use hashtags and post at certain times. I know how to interact with my followers.
Facebook is a different story. It is a platform I use in my spare time but find the business side of Facebook difficult to manage. I have not taken the time to get to know it. I only had one like on my Facebook post with just a few viewings of the video. For Facebook, I wish I had used a more simple and direct caption instead of one similar to the one I used for Instagram. I also think I could have asked a different question to captivate my audience.
Overall, I felt confident with my social media posts and am proud of the things I learned. I will continue to understand more about each platform to find the right one for my target audience. I need to improve on my captions and engage customers right away.
